529 Day is May 29th!

Did you know that May 29th is National 529 Day? 529 Day was created to encourage families to save for their children’s future by opening a 529 College Savings Plan—a tax-advantaged investment account that can be used to pay for qualified educational expenses such as college tuition and apprenticeship programs. To celebrate 529 Day, every year the Home Run holds a drawing for a $1,529 deposit to the Ready, Set, Save! account of a lucky West Sacramento child or youth who signed up for Ready, Set, Save! and linked a ScholarShare 529 since May 29th of the previous year. Last year's winner was Brendon Barrett, a student at Stonegate Elementary School! Brendon’s teacher, Tracy Morago, also received $529 in classroom supplies.

Even if you don’t win the drawing, the Home Run offers up to $280 in incentives to families enrolled in Ready, Set, Save! and ScholarShare 529, the plan sponsored by the California State Treasurer’s Office.
