Mandatory Qualifications

Interns must be 16 years old by June 10th, 2024. River City High School students must have completed at least one course in one of WUSD’s Career Technical Education Pathways. View qualifying courses here. Yolo High School and Washington Middle College students must have a recommendation form filled out by a teacher or counselor. All participants must have also viewed an online informational session about the internships offered by the Home Run team. Responsibilities

The Home Run intern will play a versatile role with various responsibilities, which include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting Home Run staff with administrative tasks

  • Helping organize internship lessons

  • Engaging in community outreach events and interacting with families.

  • Developing and sharing social media and digital outreach content, consisting of graphics, photos, and videos.

  • Creating and distributing email campaigns

  • Perform various job duties to ensure the smooth operation of the West Sacramento Home Run internship program and support other Home Run programs.

  • Communicate effectively via phone, email, or other means with peers and supervisors.

  • Accompany Home Run staff on site visits.

The intern will have the opportunity to create and execute a social media campaign, and help local schools implement the program Raising a Reader.
