Mandatory Qualifications
Interns must be 16 years old by June 10th, 2024. River City High School students must have completed at least one course in one of WUSD’s Career Technical Education Pathways. View qualifying courses here. Yolo High School and Washington Middle College students must have a recommendation form filled out by a teacher or counselor. All participants must have also viewed an online informational session about the internships offered by the Home Run team. Responsibilities
Interns will be responsible for assisting children with projects and supervising play. The headteacher will provide projects to be prepared. Interns will help other teachers with the flow of the day; preparing for outside time, lunches, snacks, nap time, etc. Cultivating a trusting and nurturing relationship with the children, helping them to resolve conflict, find solutions to problems and enthusiasm are key to the job.

Special Project
As an assistant preschool teacher, you will be guided in the principles of the Teaching Pyramid ,and reflect those principles while interacting with students. The head teacher will provide education in those principles and objectives to help you implement them. The headteacher will observe your interactions, and give you notes on how to continue to grow and understand early childhood education.
