Mandatory Qualifications
Interns must be 16 years old by June 10th, 2025. River City High School students must have completed at least one course in one of WUSD’s Career Technical Education Pathways. View qualifying courses here. Yolo High School and Washington Middle College students must have a recommendation form filled out by a teacher or counselor. All participants must have also participated in or watched a recording of an online informational session about the internships offered by the Home Run team.
Responsibilities
Processing payments for customers and explaining bill details
Mailing customer quotes
Writing and mailing friendly cards
Answering phone calls
Scheduling appointments.
About the Business
We sell insurance and service our customers. The Customer Service Intern would be working with our Customer Care team, whose main priorities are maintaining and updating existing insurance policies, taking payments, and solving billing issues.
Preferred Abilities
Must be friendly, must be a team player, and must have the ability to speak and write professionally. Must be able to adhere to State Farm's practice of protecting customer information.
Learning outcomes
How to offer white-glove service to our current customers and new prospects.
How to manage time effectively.
How to work in a team environment.
How to work with other departments within State Farm, such as billing and underwriting, to fix policy errors and answer unique questions.
Special Project
1. Intern will be able to fully run a marketing campaign for scheduling agent appointments, including creating a list of in-book customers, scheduling appointments, and texting reminders and follow up notes.
2. Intern will be able to fully understand our new billing system and process for business policies, and will be able to explain the modernized system to 40 of our customers. Intern will be responsible for facilitating the movement of policies from the old billing system to the new one.
