Mandatory Qualifications
Interns must be 16 years old by June 10th, 2024. River City High School students must have completed at least one course in one of WUSD’s Career Technical Education Pathways. View qualifying courses here. Yolo High School and Washington Middle College students must have a recommendation form filled out by a teacher or counselor. All participants must have also viewed an online informational session about the internships offered by the Home Run team. Responsibilities
Refurbishing computers involves troubleshooting, replacing components, software installation, storage, and cleaning peripherals.
About the Business
We are a non-profit organization called Computers 4 Kids (C4K), located in West Sacramento, CA, USA. Our mission is to provide computers to students and low-income families in the West Sacramento area. As a United Way partner, we are currently in the process of refurbishing hundreds of computers for them.
Preferred Abilities
Have a basic knowledge of computers, show up on time, and be ready to learn.
Learning outcomes
Troubleshoot computer problems and identify the main components of a computer.
How to use software to image a computer.
Properly storing, sorting, and cleaning computer equipment.
Special Project
Learn how to image a computer using the appropriate software.
